I am grateful and excited to be Palouse Land Trust’s Ecological Technician this season. I’ve been a part of the Palouse community since 2021 and have been working in restoration since 2022 through a multitude of grassroots organizations.
I spent my childhood between Boise and Idaho Falls, ID. My love for the outdoors started with family excursions on Idaho’s indulgent water resources and trips to special places such as Island Park and Yellowstone National Park. I grew up working at my family’s fifth-generation architectural supply and custom millwork and cabinet shop. I deeply admire the grit of our forests and the elegance that comes possible with craftsmanship.
Moving to the Palouse region in pursuit of higher education was an amazing decision. I fortunately received the Wallace & Dorothy Monnett Scholarship and graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science in 2023. During my education, colleagues and I founded the Society for Ecological Restoration UI Chapter and were able to get involved with the local conservation community.
In my senior year, I worked as riparian restoration technician with Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute and set roots in the community. The last two field seasons I spent working on a private Palouse prairie reconstruction project honing my plant ID and weed management. I am looking forward to stewarding the lands we love and learning more every day. Besides, are you actually working if you’re in constant state of awe?
