I began my career as a volunteer coordinator and office manager at a local hospice agency in central Idaho. It was family-owned, and they took their core values seriously, making sure every employee understood and lived by them. I learned many lessons there, but one of the most important was this: hospice isn't about dying, it's about living. Each patient was alive and living until that last breath, and we were there to make those moments as meaningful as possible.
That's what I think about when I think of planned giving. Though "spooky season" may be upon us, these conversations don't have to be scary.
