Abby in the field, monitoring in summer 2024.
I am so excited to be back with Palouse Land Trust for the second year in a row! Working with Palouse Land Trust has been such an amazing experience that I will never forget and I am so excited to continue my work this summer! I just finished my junior year at the University of Idaho, through the College of Natural Resources I am still pursuing my bachelors degree in Conservation Biology with a minor in Rangeland Management, as well as the Restoration Ecology and Natural Resources Management Certificates.
Junior year took me all over The Pacific Northwest between talking to conservation professionals and ranchers in Joseph Oregon through my Integrated Rangeland Management class and then talking to stakeholders and state agencies in Island Park Idaho near Yellowstone National Park. I have been enjoying all of the opportunities college has to offer!
Through my junior year I have continued my hard work as a College of Natural Resources Ambassador traveling throughout the state of Idaho connecting with future natural resources students as well students from organizations like Idaho FFA. The ambassador program helps students find their way to the University of Idaho and specifically the highly sought out natural resources programs. I love talking to students and their families giving all the information as well as how the University can be a great fit for everyone! I have also continued as the Social Media Manager for the College of Natural Resources as well. This job has given me the opportunity to showcase students and all of the hard work throughout their college experience as well as promoting on campus events for students.
Academically I am coming into my last stretch of my bachelors degree! I am so excited to finish my degree and move into working in conservation! Ideally I am hoping to find positions in Natural Resources Management as well as in Restoration Management!
I am so excited for this upcoming summer! I love talking with all of the landowners I met last year and continuing those relationships! Monitoring is such a fulfilling position in conservation efforts and I am so happy to be back!
