Goodnight, not goodbye

Marcel can’t help but make friends everywhere he goes.

The mission of Palouse Land Trust is and always will be important to me.  It's been wonderful to work among so many who share this sentiment, all of us in support of a common goal.  I have learned much and grown much in a short time with you all.

As many of you already know, life changed for me on January 11th, when I was rear ended at an angle, turning left off highway 8 on my way home from work.  My car was totaled, I hit my head and sustained a concussion in the crash.  Recovery has been slow, and for several medical reasons I am still not able to return to my roles in supporting the mission of PLT.  I am continuing to improve, and am determined to make a full recovery.

A good day’s work installing signs with volunteers along Judy’s Trail in Troy.

Our common goals of conservation cannot and should not wait for me to be able to return to work, nor do I wish to impede these goals.  There is much to be done, both this spring and in the long run.  For these reasons I have decided to offer my medical resignation.  It saddens me greatly to leave what I have dug into here with you all, but I do so for the work to continue and flourish.

The infectious smile we will miss each and every day at the PLT offices.

I am also overwhelmed in gratitude for the support that our community has shown me.  It is a lot to process and understand, and attempting to do so leaves me stunned.  It is my hope and intention that I can continue to "earn my keep" in respect to this amazing support.

This may be "goodnight" but it is not goodbye.  I hope to see you out on the trail, perhaps we will work shoulder to shoulder again as volunteers, and I will do what I can to help PLT maintain the skills and knowledge you helped me gain.

With gratitude,

Marcel
