I am thrilled to be a part of the Palouse Land Trust team! Admittedly, I knew little about the organization until Lovina invited me out for coffee, but after that one conversation, I knew I had to work with PLT.
I was born and raised in Boise and attended the University of Idaho for my undergraduate degree (I’m a proud fourth-generation Vandal). After graduation, I met my partner and we thought long and hard about where we wanted to set roots. The Palouse was the obvious choice, so we moved here in 2015. My parents have lived in the area for over a decade and eventually, my brothers and mother-in-law also settled here. We love the landscapes and natural beauty of the Palouse, as well as the wonderful community of people. My family also has longstanding farming ties to this area, going back generations.
I have worked for a small, family-owned hospice agency and then at the University of Idaho’s College of Natural Resources for several years, during which time I also earned my Master’s. My partner and I recently embarked on an incredible adventure and lived in Sweden for three years. While there, I had a brief stint working for a large, private company after which I knew I wanted to direct all my future career efforts toward serving my community and working at non-profits.
Now here I am as the Palouse Land Trust’s Operations Manager. I am so grateful to the PLT team for allowing me the opportunity to work with an organization that cares about preserving this region’s incredible natural resources well into the future while working with different community partners and landowners. I hope the work I do here will contribute to enhancing the wonderful place I call home.
I also enjoy bad pun jokes.
Why is a bee’s hair always sticky? …Because it uses a honeycomb.
Why is grass so dangerous? …Because it’s full of blades.
