Idler’s Rest? After dark? Cool friends from the Palouse Discovery Science Center and Palouse Astronomical Society? HECK YES!
Join Palouse Land Trust for a magical evening under the stars at Idler’s Rest Preserve, which is normally open only from dawn to dusk. This is only the second-ever after-dark experience at the preserve, offering a rare chance to see the landscape in a completely different light.
We will explore the night sky, learn about constellations and celestial features, and take in the Palouse after sunset. We will spend time in the meadow and also walk up Penstemon Path for a second viewpoint, giving us two distinct angles of the night sky and surrounding landscape.
PLT will have telescopes available so you can view the stars from multiple vantage points throughout the evening. Luminaries will guide the way along the Trail, but a headlamp or flashlight is essential for safe navigation in the dark.
What to bring:
Headlamp or flashlight
Warm layers (it gets chilly after sunset)
Snacks and water
Blanket or comfortable seating
Donations to support stewardship of Idler’s Rest are welcome and appreciated.
