Round 2!

Come help us take the next step in our forest health work at Idler’s Rest! As trees have died and opened up space in the forest, dense brush has grown into those areas. We’re now working to clear some of that brush and prepare the site for the next generation of trees.

Over the coming years, Palouse Land Trust plans to plant 500 trees at Idler’s Rest. Removing some of the dense, competing vegetation now will give these young trees the space and resources they need to get established and grow.

Volunteers will work alongside PLT staff to clear overgrown brush and prepare planting areas. No experience is needed. We’ll provide the tools and guidance you need throughout the workday.

Come spend some time outdoors, learn more about forest health and restoration, and help us prepare Idler’s Rest for the future.

Activities include:

• Removing overgrown brush and competing vegetation

• Clearing areas around future planting sites

• Learning about PLT’s forest health and replanting work

We provide:

• All tools and equipment

• Guidance from PLT staff

• A hands-on introduction to forest restoration

What to bring and wear:

• Long pants and long-sleeved shirt

• Closed-toed shoes or sturdy boots

• Gloves, if you have them

• Water

• Clothing suitable for the weather

• Willingness to bend, lift, and carry materials

We’ll meet at the Idler’s Rest parking lot and be greeted by Palouse Land Trust’s Community Lands Steward, Craig Malone.
