Already signed up to volunteer with Palouse Land Trust? This orientation is the next step!

This orientation will introduce you to the Hike Docent role and the duties that come with leading groups through Idler’s Rest Nature Preserve.

Hike Docents
Learn about PLT, the history and purpose of Idler’s Rest, and how to welcome visitors and share information about the preserve. We’ll cover what PLT does, what to expect as a volunteer, and how you can be an ambassador for the land while you’re on the trail.

During the orientation, we’ll:

• Tour Idler’s Rest and learn about its history

• Learn about PLT’s mission, preserves, and stewardship work

• Discuss volunteer expectations and responsibilities

• Learn how to interact with visitors and represent PLT on the trail

• Introduce the Preserve Steward role and hands-on stewardship work

What to bring:

• Water

• Comfortable walking shoes

• Gloves, if you have them

• Clothing appropriate for the weather
