Join Palouse Land Trust and The Phoenix Conservancy for a hands-on biochar demonstration near Idler’s Rest Nature Preserve. This collaborative event will highlight the role of biochar in soil health, carbon storage, and ecological restoration, while showcasing practical, small-scale production techniques in action.
Using the Ring of Fire kiln, the Phoenix Conservancy team will lead a live, guided burn demonstrating how woody material can be transformed into stable carbon that benefits soils and landscapes. This is a unique opportunity to observe the full process and learn directly from practitioners working at the intersection of land stewardship and ecological innovation.
The active burn will take place at 1 pm and burn for approximately 2 hours.
This event is designed to be informal and drop-in friendly. Attendees are welcome to come and go during the burn window.
