Plant a Tree for the Next Generation: Arbor Day at the Olson Preserve
Join Palouse Land Trust for a drop-in Arbor Day event at the Olson Family Conservation Preserve. Thanks to a generous donation from Deary Acres Nursery, we will be planting 80 trees in celebration of Arbor Day.
This hands-on planting effort supports ongoing restoration work at Olson and helps move us one step closer to improving and expanding wildlife habitat in Latah County. Every tree planted contributes to a healthier, more resilient landscape for years to come.
Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome. Staff will provide guidance, tools, and planting instruction throughout the event. This is a great opportunity to connect with the land, learn about restoration work, and be part of meaningful conservation on the Palouse.
Activities include:
Planting native trees across restoration sites
Digging and preparing planting holes
Watering new plantings
Learning basic restoration and planting techniques
We provide:
All tools and materials
Gloves (limited supply)
Water and light snacks
Instruction and support from PLT staff
What to bring and wear:
Closed-toed shoes or boots
Clothing suitable for outdoor work and weather conditions
Layers, as spring conditions can vary
Willingness to dig, carry, and get a little dirty
We will meet at the Olson Family Conservation Preserve on Olson Loop, where you will be greeted by Palouse Land Trust staff.
No registration required; just drop in and join us for part or all of the event.
