Event Overview:

Join Palouse Land Trust and the University of Idaho College of Natural Resources for a special evening launching the Legacy of Land Trusts Endowment Campaign.

This endowment, established to honor the legacy of Nick Sanyal (emeritus faculty member and long-time PLT board member), will grow to $250,000 to fund a full-time seasonal stewardship intern at Palouse Land Trust. Together, we are ensuring that conservation education is not just an idea, but a lived experience for students right here on the Palouse.

Why this matters:

  • Creates long-term, dedicated funding in a time of real challenges for higher education and nonprofits.

  • Keeps the best and brightest conservation minds rooted in our community by providing meaningful, hands-on opportunities.

  • Builds the next generation of leaders prepared to face fast-changing land use, climate, and social needs.

Special Guests:

We’re honored to be joined by Dean Dennis Becker of the College of Natural Resources. You’ll also hear from Nick Sanyal and Archie George—two leaders who have already given generously to this endowment and whose vision continues to shape conservation on the Palouse. Participants will leave inspired by their thoughtful and bold leadership.

At the event you’ll enjoy:

  • A welcoming space hosted by our generous friends at the Monarch Motel.

  • Delicious fare catered by Nectar (heavy appetizers)

  • An array of delicious Clearwater Canyon wine and other refreshments.

  • The chance to meet our 2024-2025 intern, Abby Evans, and hear her story.

  • Conversations with others who care deeply about conservation, education, and community.

We’d love for you to invite a friend, colleague, or neighbor who might be inspired by this partnership. Just let us know in your RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
